In the backdrop of temple desecration incidents in Jammu city, Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar today said that maintenance of law and order was important to ensure peace in the state.
"Coordination among all field units at different levels is a must to ensure peace and security of the people," he said while addressing a security review meeting, convened to review the security scenario in Jammu after the incidents of temple desecration which led to protests and arson.
Stressing upon synergy among various police units dealing with maintaining law and order and security of the people, the DGP said rule of law is the prime concern which should be ensured at every cost.
"Frequent meetings by the supervisory officers in their jurisdiction with the people of different communities would help to ease the situation," Kumar said.
For the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, he stressed upon officers to make all arrangements for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
"Jammu city being the gateway of the state witnesses a large footfall of pilgrims and tourists, and it is important for the personnel deployed for different field duties to maintain the law and order," Kumar said.
