Law Minister Prasad meets German Vice Chancellor

Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today met German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel here and stressed the need for greater cooperation between the two countries.
Gabriel, who is also the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and is equivalent to the rank of Deputy Prime Minister in India, congratulated Prasad on his party's electoral victory.
Prasad shared the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Vice Chancellor and elaborated upon "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas" as the underlying philosophy of his government.
Counting the success of German companies like Audi, BMW, Rolls Royce and others in India, Prasad urged for increased investment by German companies in the country.
Citing the great demographic dividend and economical labour force in India, Prasad said the two countries had great potential for cooperation in the field of electronic manufacturing and non-conventional energy.
He shared Prime Minister Modi's ideas such as "Skill, Scale and Speed" and "only red carpet and no red tape" with the Vice Chancellor and said India certainly is one of the best investment destinations in the world.

Prasad also shared the initiatives taken by the new Indian government such as Digital India, National Optical Fibre Network, and Electronics Manufacturing Clusters to boost economic growth.
He further highlighted that the strong election mandate would ensure stable government, policy clarity, fair administration and faster decision making.
The German Vice Chancellor expressed his happiness over the changed investment climate in India after formation of the new government. He also lauded the efforts made by the Indian government for financial inclusion.
Gabriel further added that skill development is another area where both the countries can cooperate with each other.
Citing concerns over Germany's demography, he also invited young Indian professionals to come and work in Germany.
Gabriel also raised the WTO issues with Prasad and hoped that a solution could be found soon. To this Prasad expressed India's deep commitment to the processes of WTO.
However, Prasad highlighted India's food security concerns which must not be construed by the developed world as a stumbling block to WTO negotiations. The German Vice Chancellor respected the concerns of India with respect to food security.
