Law students demand dismissal of arrested professor

Students of Government Law College here today staged a demonstration demanding the immediate arrest of a Professor of Pondicherry University, who has been arrested on the charge of sexual abuse of a minor girl.
The students, who abstained from classes, held a demonstration and volunteers of Puducherry Students Federation led by Swaminathan also joined the protest seeking the dismissal of Professor M Madhialagan.
"This (suspension) is not a sufficient step. The professor should be sacked as he had committed a very serious crime which had tarnished the image of teaching community," they said.
They also wanted proper care and support to the victim and her parents.

The professor was arrested on March 28 on charges of sexual abuse of the 13-year old girl, who was taking tuition under him being a resident in his neighbourhood.
