Amidst reports that Congress MLA A P Abullakutty has offered to quit the MLA post in the wake of solar scam accused Saritha Nair giving a statement in a court in a complaint that he had tried to molest her, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said a person cannot be seen as guilty just because an allegation has been made.
Abdullakutty, MLA from Kannur assembly segment, met Chandy at the Guest house here.
Talking to reporters, Chandy said the law would take its own course and a person cannot be treated as guilty just because an allegation has been made against him.
Saritha gave her statement under CrPC 164 before the Judicial Magistrate here on June 3.
Saritha, who is out on bail in the solar scam, had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Abdullakutty in March last.
Saritha, one of the two accused in the solar scam, had alleged that the Congress legislator from Kannur used to frequently call her on phone and even invited her to a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.
Abdullakutty has dubbed the allegation as "totally unfounded.
