A former employee of a garment company has been arrested for allegedly threatening and assaulting his lawyer, accusing him of being managed by the opposite side in a legal case, police said.
The accused, identified as Jitendra Prasad Patel, was arrested by the Amboli police in suburban Andheri on Monday.
"Four accused, including Jitendra, armed with a pistol, which later turned out to be fake, nylon ropes and a big paper cutter, barged into advocate Rajesh Gehani's office in Andheri (W) around 5 PM and threatened him at gunpoint," police said.
The accused told Gehani that if he did not give it in writing that he had accepted money from the opposite side in a legal case and managed the case, he would be killed, police added.
According to police, later, when they started tying the victim's hands, the latter retaliated, following which the accused started fleeing from the spot. Although three accused managed to escape, Gehani, with the help of a security guard of the commercial complex, where his office is located, managed to catch Jitendra.
"Only one accused has been arrested in the case, while three others are still absconding," senior inspector of Amboli police station, Ramesh Kathdare, said.

During the commotion in the office, the pistol which was brought by the accused, fell on the floor. However, it later turned out to be fake, police said.
Gehani said he was representing Jitendra and one Bharat Saroj in the Bombay Hight Court in a legal case against their former employer Twinkle Apparels.
"The High Court had accepted Twinkle Apparels' petition and ruled that the order passed by the labour court in favour of Jitendra and Bharat was wrong," Gehani said and added that he had not represented them in the labour court.
Jitendra has been booked under sections 452 (house- trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC, police said.
Further investigation into the case is on.
