Lawyers' bandh cripples life in Balangir

Normal life was affected in Odisha's Balangir district following a shut-down called by lawyers demanding setting up of a permanent High Court bench in the the district.

Thirteen trains were cancelled after members of the Balangir District Lawyers Association staged rail roko in some places, an East Coast Railway (ECoR) official said.

Besides, at least 10 trains were short terminated, nine diverted and three rescheduled, he said.

Shops and business establishments remained closed while vehicular traffic across the district came to a halt as the bandh supporters put up road blockades at several places, police said.

The bandh remained by and large peaceful.
