Several lawyers associated with the Karnataka State Bar Council today boycotted courts here protesting the transfer of senior High Court judge, Justice Jayant Patel, who has since resigned.
The lawyers alleged "lack of transparency" in the collegium system.
Advocate Kashi Vishwanatha said by and large most of the lawyers refrained from appearing before the court.
Patel, who was in the limelight after he ordered a CBI probe into the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case in Gujarat when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state, had resigned as judge on September 25.
The resignation came days after Patel was transferred to the Allahabad High Court.
Patel had said he did not want to shift to Allahabad with only 10 months left for his retirement and hence he quit.
The co-chairman of the Bar Council of India Y R Sadashiva Reddy in his letter had earlier said there is an "outcry, frustration and displeasure by the legal fraternity over the resignation of Patel.
