Lawyers demand setting up of Kerala HC bench at T'puram
Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram The Kerala chapter of All India Lawyers Union (AILU) today sought immediate intervention of the Union government in setting up a High Court bench in the state capital here.
It is a long pending demand and the centre should press the state government and the Kerala High Court to give their concurrence, AILU state Secretary B Rajendran told reporters.
He said the forum also wanted Supreme Court benches in five locations - north, south, east, west and central parts of the country - for the convenience of people who now have to travel all the way to Delhi for filing cases at the apex court.
A conscious attempt to abolish the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) from the state capital was going on and the authorities concerned should take immediate steps to check such attempts, he added.
