The advocates of all six district courts here today went on strike to protest against the alleged attack on a lawyer at his flat by police personnel and registration of a "false case" against him.
The lawyers' day-long strike affected judicial work in the six district courts -- Dwarka, Saket, Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Rohini and Karkardooma -- and only proxy counsel appeared in urgent matters to take dates.
The proceedings in high-profile cases like 2G scam case were also affected with members of New Delhi Bar Association (NDBA) requesting the judge to adjourn the hearing in the wake of the strike by lawyers.
Advocate Y P Singh, Vice-President of Dwarka Court Bar Association, said lawyer S P Meena was attacked by five-six police personnel at his flat in west Delhi on October 12 and the policemen "misbehaved" with him and also lodged a "false" case against him.
Singh said the members of the lawyers' body today met the Dwarka court's district judge who had assured them that a proper inquiry would be done in the matter.
"The district judge has asked the senior police officials concerned to look into the matter properly," he said.

Dwarka Bar leaders also said advocate Meena is in a serious condition and is undergoing operation at a hospital here.
"His (lawyer's) lower part has been virtually paralysed and his rib is also broken in the attack by the police," Dwarka Bar President Naresh C Sharma.
Arun Rathi, Vice President of Saket Bar Association, said their strike was "successful" and the lawyers have not appeared in any matter.
The strike was called by other bar associations as well to "show solidarity" and co-operate in the issue, he said.
