The Lower Bhavani Project Ryots Association today decided not to allow candidates of Erode, Tirupur and Karur Lok Sabha constituencies to conduct election campaign in LBP ayacut areas in the district.
C. Nallasamy, President of the Association, alleged that Public Works Department officials failed to follow Government standing orders for release of water to LBP ayacut areas from the Bhavanisagar reservoir. Because of such attitude, no water was allowed for second turn dry crops in the LBP ayacut for the past two years, he said.
He said because of such mismanagement by PWD officials the farmers in the one lakh and odd acres in LBP ayacut have lost paddy cultivation 14 times and gingelly or groundnut cultivation four times, incurring incurred huge loss.
"So LBP farmers will not allow campaigning by the candidates in their ayacut area," he said.
