"The Coalition government, during its four years tenure, is responsible for bringing peace and development in of J&K. The government is also committed to the empowerment of panchayats in the state," Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said during a joint public rally here.
Chand said victory of Sham Lal Bhagat and Shehnaz Ganai will enable the sarpanches and panches of Jammu region to highlight their problems in the state Legislature.
This was first such joint rally of both the coalition partners in Jammu.
The function was also attended by Medical and Technical Education Minister R S Chib and Minister for Industries and Commerce S S Salathia, besides members from both the parties and a host of panchayat representatives.
Chib, is his address, claimed that only the ruling coalition can ensure continuation of development process in the state.
He assured that all important provisions of 73rd Amendment of Constitution will be incorporated in the Panchayati Raj Act of J&K.

Chib said a reasonable honorarium for panchayat members is under active consideration of the state government.
Slathia, on this occasion, explained the importance of the election in order to bring peace, stability and development in the state.
He accused PDP and BJP of misleading the people by their "hollow slogans" and asked the panchayat representatives not to get mislead.
