The LDF state committee, which discussed the issue here today, made it clear that the coalition was not against attracting investment to the state but it should not be at the cost of natural assets and by sabotaging the land reform legislation.

"We are not convinced that the government's intentions are good. But we will wait till the government makes things clear and assume a transparent approach. Then we will take a final decision on co-operating with Emerging Kerala," LDF convener and CPI(M) leader Vaikom Viswan told a press meet here.

Significantly, Opposition Leader and CPI(M) stalwart V S Achuthanandan had earlier in the day had virtually ruled out his presence at "Emerging Kerala", slated to be opened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 12 at Kochi.

Achuthanandan told reporters at Aluva that it would be difficult for him to co-operate with the venture since allegations of corruption had already come up before it took off.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy ,however, retorted saying that no one would be allowed to sabotage the development of the state by creating unnecessary controversies.
