Lead futures strengthened by 0.22% to Rs 137.25 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid demand in the domestic spot market and a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.22%, to Rs 137.25 per kg, with a turnover of 126 lots.
The metal for delivery in September gained 20 paise, or 0.15%, to Rs 137.70 per kg in a business volume of one lot.
Marketmen said apart from domestic demand, particularly from battery-makers, the metal's gain in copper and other base metals in overseas market, supported the upside in lead prices at futures trade.
