Lead futures eased further by 0.44 per cent to Rs 145.70 per kg today as speculators engaged in reducing their positions, taking negative cues from domestic spot market on muted demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in July declined by 65 paise, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 145.70 per kg in business turnover of 627 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts shed 45 paise, or 0.31 per cent to Rs 146.70 per kg in 12 lots.

Analysts said cutting down of positions by traders owing to slackened demand from battery-makers in the physical market, mainly kept lead prices down at futures trade.
