Lead rises by 0.4% on spot demand

Lead prices moved up by 0.44% to Rs 113.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions, driven by rising demand from battery-maker in the spot market amid firm global trend.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June month moved up by 50 paise, or 0.44% to Rs 113.50 per kg in business turnover of 482 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in July contracts edged higher by 45 paise, or 0.39% to Rs 114.70 per kg in 17 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to rising demand from battery makers in the spot markets amid firm trend in base metals global markets.
