Lead prices traded higher by 1.19 per cent to Rs 136.20 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions amid uptick in demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May edged up by Rs 1.60, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 136.20 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,016 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June was up by Rs 1.45, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 137 per kg in 23 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to pick up in demand from battery-makers at the spot market.
