Lead prices edged up by 0.41 per cent to Rs 148.35 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions following uptick in demand at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in July traded higher by 60 paise, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 148.35 per kg in a business turnover of 365 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in August contracts inched up by 40 paise, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 149.20 per kg in 27 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to pick up in demand from battery-makers in the physical market led to the rise in lead prices in futures trade.
