Leaders across party lines paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during a state-level prayer meet organised at the Guru Nanak Bhawan here today.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ludhiana MP and Congress leader Ravneet Singh Bittu attended the function on behalf of the Punjab government.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda lauded Vajpayee's contribution to the nation.
He said that his leadership, foresight and maturity put him in a league of his own and will be missed by one and all.
Bittu said Vajpayee never hesitated to speak from his heart and his death marked the end of an era.
BJP state president Shwait Malik said that the former prime minister dedicated his life to the cause of the common people and the downtrodden.
Ninety-three-year-old Vajpayee died in Delhi on August 16.
