"Such attacks in broad daylight in Srinagar are worrisome and the government should treat the situation with utmost seriousness," NC's working president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said.
"This is a grave development and the government should get to the bottom of it without wasting any time," he added.
Expressing solidarity with the families of the slain policemen, Omar expressed the hope that there would be swift action to nab those responsible for the attacks.
Two policemen, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were killed in a militant attack in Zadibal area, while another policeman was shot dead at Tengpora locality of the city this morning.

Hitting out at the PDP-BJP government for "failing to contain the situation", the state unit of Congress termed the assassination of police personnel as an "outcome of the misrule and wrong policies" of the ruling coalition and asked the government to take "full responsibility for the unfortunate incidents".
"Congress party strongly condemns the assassination of police personnel and describes it as a great loss," the party said in a statement here.
Meanwhile, BJP condemned the twin militant attack killing three policemen and said gun-totting youth need to keep in mind that gun has not yielded any result, except destruction and graveyards.
"Militants seem to be desperate to make their presence felt. Such acts in the midst of tourists season can cripple the Kashmir economy," BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir sais in a statement.
