Leaders greet people

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and DMK President M Karunanidhi today extended their New Year greetings to people.
"Let us join hands to make India a global leader and resolve to promote our nation's rich culture and heritage. May the dawn of New Year bring in plenty of happiness, peace, progress and prosperity," Rosaiah said in a Raj Bhavan statement.
Jayalalithaa wished that the new year ushered in prosperity to one and all.
"Your beloved sister's government" was implementing various measures to ensure all-round prosperity and that the state was therefore forging ahead in development," she said.
In his greetings, Karunanidhi said people faced a lot of challenges, including the rain and floods, in 2015 and charged the AIADMK with failure in various fronts including controlling price rise.
He said year 2016 will see a change of rule, indicating that people might not choose AIADMK again in the elections, due early next year.

Puducherry Lt Governor Lt General (Retired) A K Singh and Chief Minister N Rangasamy greeted the people on the eve of new year.
Singh expressed the hope that people's aspirations and wishes would be fulfilled in the New Year.
"The world over the threat of global warming and climate change looms large. Let us resolve to protect our environment and create environmental awareness to build a greener and cleaner Puducherry," he said in his message.
The Chief Minister recalled the efforts taken by his regime for the welfare of all sections of people.
Welfare Minister P Rajavelu, AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy, R Radhakrishnan, MP, and PCC President A Namassivayam were among those who greeted the people on the eve of New Year.
