A survey conducted by iimjobs.Com, an online recruitment portal for management jobs, found that the number of women applying for senior positions witnessed a year-on-year rise.
In 2013, just 10 per cent females had applied for senior positions, which increased to 15.3 per cent in 2014 while this year, 28 per cent applicants for senior positions were women with experience levels between 11-15 years.
The report said increasing number of applications clearly indicates that diversity in organisations, especially in leadership roles, is the need of the hour.
Increase in the number of applications by female candidates with over 15 years of experience is maximum for human resource and industry relations jobs followed by sales and marketing, consulting and lastly banking and finance.
"Recruiters are also now looking at hiring more women employees because they are realising that increase in women's representation in leadership positions has a real, tangible impact on an organisation's financial and talent outcomes," Tarun Matta, Founder, iimjobs.Com said.
