Leading teams for Ramu basketball

Leading men's and women's teams are to take part in the 28th edition of the Ramu Memorial basketball tournament at the Indian Gymkhana courts in Matunga here from April 14-21.
The top men's teams include ONGC, Western Railway, Maharashtra, IOB, Punjab, Karnataka, Air Force and RCF, Kapurthala.
The three-team women's category features Southern Railway, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh, said a media release here today.
The men's teams would be divided into two groups, playing a round robin, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
The men's competition is to feature a host of stars including T J Sahi and Jagdeep Bains from Punjab, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Riyazuddin and Yadwinder from ONGC, Mihir Pandey and Pratham Singh from IOB, Arjun Singh from RCF (Kapurthala), as well as stalwarts from the Air Force, Western Railway and Karnataka.
Geetu Anna Jose and Anitha Pauldurai from Southern Railway, Anju Lakra from Chattisgarh, Shireen Limaye and Manisha Dange from Maharashtra will be the playes to watch out for among the women.

The men's winners will receive the glittering Ramu Memorial Trophy and a purse of Rs. 1.50 Lakh, while the women's winning team will receive Rs. 60,000.
The event is being sponsored by Tridhaatu Realty and Infra and United Phosphorous.
The 28th edition will see the revival of the Youth Edition (Under-21) comprising six local teams with an objective to create an opportunity to develop and nurture upcoming talent at the club level within the city.
The tournament would be played on Terraflex courts and held under floodlights, the release added.
