Leak of personal details of Modi, others human error: Aus

Australia has conveyed to India that the leak of personal details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with 30 other world leaders at last year's G20 summit in Brisbane was an "isolated" example of human error and it considered the breach to be "very low".
Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh today said data was immediately deleted by the recipient and was not distributed further.
Modi was among the world leaders whose personal details like passport number and date of birth were inadvertently e-mailed by an Australian Immigration official to a member of the Asian Football Cup Organising Committee.

"The Australian Immigration Department clarified that the leak was an 'isolated example of human error' and it considered the breach to be 'very low', given that personal contact details were not revealed," Singh said in reply to a question on the issue in the Lok Sabha.
"The breach was referred to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the department has reviewed and strengthened its e-mail protocols to limit and contain future breaches," he said.
Besides Modi, US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and British Prime Minister David Cameron were among those whose details were leaked.
