'Confident' over continuance of alliance between Congress and Left Front in the state, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Abdul Mannan today said he has briefed Congress president Sonia Gandhi about the political necessity of the alliance in Bengal.
"I have told our leader Sonia Gandhi about the need of the alliance in Bengal. I have told her that it is in the interest of Congress that the party remain an ally of this alliance and how this alliance has helped Congress and uniting the opposition against the communal BJP and autocratic TMC in Bengal. She has given me a patient hearing. I am confident that this alliance will continue in days to come," Mannan told PTI from New Delhi after meeting Sonia Gandhi.
Mannan, one of the architects of the Congress-Left Front alliance in Bengal has been an open advocate of carrying forward the alliance in Bengal, irrespective of the poll debacle.
