"The Left Front is exploring a secular alternative to both Congress and BJP for the forthcoming general elections," CPI-M MP Sitaram Yechury told reporters here.
He said the Left Front is looking towards alliance partners like Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, Deve Gowda's Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka, Nitish Kumar's JD-U in Bihar, Biju Janata Dal in Odisha, AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and other like-minded parties.
He said CPI-M was against the policies of BJP and would oppose its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Elaborating his point, Yechury said nowhere in the world has income tax ever been abolished and if it is waived for the middle class, it would also have to be waived for the rich.
