State leaders of CPI, CPI(M), CPM and CPI(ML) Liberation in Punjab also staged a dharna at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's residence here.
They also raised slogans. They were stopped by the police when they and marched towards the CM's residence holding red flags.
The protesters were led by State Secretaries Hardev Arshi (CPI), Charan Singh Virdi CPI(M), Mangat Ram Pasla (CPM Punjab) and Gurmit Singh Bakhtupur CPI(ML Liberation).
"Badal government is having unresponsive attitude towards demands containing "just and genuine" problems of workers, peasants, youth and women," Arshi said.
Their demands were that old age and widow pension to be raised to Rs 3000, minimum wage as Rs 15000 per month, 10 marla plots to all houseless people, filling up of all vacant posts in government department, unemployment allowance and round the year work to MGNREGA workers.
