Left parties slam Chouhan

Left parties today came down heavily on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after state High Court deferred hearing on his government's plea seeking handing over the Vyapam scam probe to CBI.
The court today deferred till July 20 the hearing on the plea saying the Supreme Court is to hear similar petitions tomorrow.
Reiterating their demand for Chouhan's resignation "immediately", the parties alleged that the Chief Minister did not want justice as he approached the High Court, instead of the Supreme Court or Centre for a probe by CBI.
"When everybody said it (enquiry) has to be Supreme Court monitored, he then went to High Court. He is trying to fix everything. He doesn't want justice. He is taking these measures only to fix public opinion.

"When he knows there is Supreme Court, there is CBI under the Home Ministry, neither of these have been referred to. Basically, his credibility is at the lowest," CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat said.
CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy requested the Supreme Court's intervention after so many mysterious deaths and said that Chouhan should resign "if impartial enquiry is to be conducted".
He accused the Madhya Pradesh Government of trying to buy time by approaching the High Court instead of writing directly to Centre for CBI probe.
Chouhan, who was in Delhi, said his government will request the Supreme Court for a CBI inquiry into the scandal which, according to Congress, has claimed 49 lives so far.
