Legal luminaries to be conferred lifetime achievement awards

A Rehman Malik, Minister for Interior Government of Pakistan will also be attending the celebrations.

Ansari would be presenting lifetime achievement awards to Hawa Singh Hooda, Advocate General Haryana, Justice Kuldeep Singh, Judge Supreme Court of India and Advocate H L Sibal.

Hooda has the distinction of being the longest serving Advocate General of Haryana, elected twice as President, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana and multiple times president of High Court Bar association.

Kuldeep Singh has earned the distinction of getting elevated directly from advocate to Judge of Supreme Court of India and Advocate H L Sibal is a living legend.

Addressing reporters here, Lekh Raj Sharma, President Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana informed that Shivraj V Patil, Governor Punjab is the Guest of Honour, while Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources and Salman Khurshid, Union Minister of Law and Justice would also grace the occasion.

The day-long celebrations have been divided into three sessions. First session is the inaugural session would be addressed by the Chief Guest.

Special Guests would be Justice D K Jain and Justice Swatantar Kumar both Judge of Supreme court of India and Justice M M Kumar Acting Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court.

After the inauguration, the first session would see felicitation of advocates who have completed fifty years of practice.

The second session would see Kuldeep Sharma Speaker of Haryana Vidhan Sabha as the chief guest.

Justice Jasbir Singh and Justice Surya Kant both Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court along with Bikram Singh Majithia Revenue Minister Punjab and Vinod Sharma Former Union Food and Civil supply minster would be the Guest of Honour. PTI VJ SPC
