"The conference of secretaries will start on January 30 and that of presiding officers on January 31 in the Vidhan Bhawan and conclude on February 1," head of the preparation committee of the conference, Ambika Chaudhary said.
Speakers and Deputy Speakers of 30 state Assemblies and Chairmen of six Legislative Councils have been invited to the conference besides Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha, he said.
The delegates, around 400 in number hailing from all over the country who have been declared as state guests, will deliberate on issues related to parliamentary practices, problems faced by the presiding officers besides on how to improve and facilitate smooth functioning of the Houses, Chaudhary said.
A sightseeing of Lucknow has been planned for the delegates on February 2 and cultural evenings have also been scheduled, Chaudhary said.
A team of 80 member staff from the Lok Sabha has already arrived in the state capital, he said adding that this is the third time after 1961 and 1985 that Uttar Pradesh is hosting this conference.
