The company, which has been listed by Forbes magazine in the world's top 100 most innovative companies, said innovation has been company's foremost priority.
"Essilor's emphasis on innovation can be gauged by the fact that 40 per cent of its revenue is generated by products that have been developed and launched less than 4 years ago," Essilor India CEO Shivkumar J said in a statement.
Innovation has been the company's priority and this represents a major investment, he added.
"We now invest 180 million euro a year for research and innovation world-wide," Shivkumar J said.
"This is being made possible solely through on our efforts in innovation. We are constantly striving to ensure the wearer's needs are met through our innovations," Essilor Group COO, Ramachandran P said.
