The leopard had attacked the child on Thursday while he was playing with his friends on the outskirts of the village and dragged him to the nearby forest, Forest Divisional Officer Rajmani Pandey said.
Later, the half-eaten body of the victim was recovered in the forest area yesterday following which the enraged locals informed the forest officials about the incident.
Accordingly, a forest department team laid a trap in which the wild animal was captured last evening, Pandey said.
The leopard would be sent for rehabilitation centre to investigate his habits, the officer added.
