A leopard, who today entered a residential area in Haryana's Palwal district, was caught after few hours by the forest officials, a police official said.
A forest department official was injured while trying to catch the animal.
Panic gripped the residents when they spotted the wild cat entering the Krishna Colony, which is 50 km from New Delhi. The leopard later took refuge in a house.
The wild cat moved from one side to the other side of the colony as panicked residents gathered on rooftops to catch a glimpse of it.
On receiving information, police swung into action and the forest officials were alerted.
"Nobody from the public was injured. However, one forest department official sustained some injuries in the process of catching the leopard. After 4-5 hours of being spotted, the wild animal was caught," SP, Palwal, Sulochana Gajraj said.
She said the forest department officials would take a call on where to release the animal.
