The five-year-old leopard was hit by an unidentified vehicle along the highway near Kangri village of Shyampur range of Haridwar forest division late on Tuesday night, Sub-Divisional Officer Sant Ram said.
The carcass of the big cat was recovered on Wednesday morning, he said, adding over 30 wild animals have been killed along the highway over the past three years.
Haridwar-Najibabad highway is considered the traditional corridor for the wildlife inhabiting Chiriyapur and Shaympur ranges of the forest division.
