A leopard was today caught by locals who had set up a trap for wild pigs and blue bulls in Madnapur village under Imalia Sultanpur police station here.
The leopard, which had become a menace for the locals, walked into the trap put by them for other wild animals, Divisional Forest Officer A P Tripathi said.
The forest officials were searching for the leopard for last three-four days, Tripathi said.
The leopard's paw sustained some injury and the animal has been sent to Lucknow Zoo for treatment, the DFO added.
