The carcass of a leopardess was today recovered from a well at Iyyankolli in Gudalur Taluk, some 70 km from here, forest department officials said.
Forest officials along with a veterinarian, Dr Prabhu, retrieved the carcass today, they said.
The two-and-half-year-old leopardess might have fallen into the well while chasing a prey and drowned, Prabhu said.
Villagers had heard some noises from the well late last night but were afraid to come out, the officials said.
