Leopardess, two cubs electrocuted in Gondia

The incident occured when the three animals got entangled in a live electric wire placed by two poachers to trap wild boars, they said adding, both of them were detained.

Forest officials recovered a partly decomposed carcass of leopardess yesterday while this morning, they found carcasses of two cubs which appeared to be about one-year-old.

Forest officials succeeded in nabbing two accused, Ravi Dhurwe (32) and Nihalsingh Maraskolhe (38) while their accomplice Babulal Bhadade managed to flee.

The accused had laid live electric wire for poaching animals like wild boar but unfortunately members of the leopard family got trapped, officials said adding, both the accused are notorious for poaching with Dhurwe alone being involved in over 100 such cases.

They were send to FCR (Forest Custody Remand) till December 5 by a local court, officials said.
