Ray, Bose's grandson, said that on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, who was also Netaji's elder brother, last week he and other family members had gone to 1 Woodburn Park to pay homage to their ancestor.
"We were appalled to find the house in a shambles. It was in a state of complete disrepair with dust and rubble lying everywhere. There was no photograph of Sarat Bose to be seen anywhere," he said.
Since the Mamata Government came to power in West Bengal, the Netaji Institute for Asian Studies, housed in the building, has seen a steady decline, Ray alleged.
The three-storied Woodburn Park house was named "Sarat Bose Bhawan" when the erstwhile Left Front government under Chief Minister Jyoti Basu established the Netaji Institute for Asian Studies there in the 1970s.
