Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das Saturday joined the fortnight-long cleanliness drive Swacchata hi Seva here and called upon the people to keep their respective localities clean to prevent diseases.
Das, who wielded a broom along with several others, urged the people to make the cleanliness drive a movement.
Participating in the September 15 to October 2 cleanliness drive at Naya Tola, Dibidih in Ranchi, Das said, Tribal brothers and sisters give special attention to cleanliness.
The chief minister said if localities remain clean, problems of diarrhoea and malaria would not be there and cleanliness should be taken up as a daily work.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit to Ranchi on September 23 to launch Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission -- the Centre's flagship health scheme -- Das said 57 lakh families in Jharkhand will benefit from the scheme.
Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Urban Development Minister C P Singh and several others participated in the cleanliness drive.
