Let retired brigadier not be harassed: SC to Centre
Press Trust of India New Delhi The Supreme Court today took exception to the Centre's move challenging an order of the Armed Force Tribunal by which a brigadier, now retired, was exonerated of all charges in the recruitment process for civilian posts like musicians and chefs.
"Let this officer be not harassed," a bench comprising Chief Justice T S Thakur and justices A K Sikri and R Banumathi said after it was alleged that the brigadier himself had not looked into the answersheets of around 25,000 candidates.
"How can he look into all the answersheets," the bench said and asked Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand to take instruction on the matter which will be taken up for hearing on Wednesday.
Senior advocate K V Vishwanathan, appearing for Brigadier Bibhuti Bhushan, said that the officer has retired from the service in 2013 but the Centre is not relenting even after the Tribunal quashed all charges against him.
