LF delegation urges Guv to restore law and order in Bengal

Condemning the ruling Trinamool Congress for "deteriorating law and order" situation in West Bengal, the Left Front Legislature Party today urged Governor K N Tripathi to take appropriate measures for restoring peace and tranquility in the state.
In his seven-point demands placed before the Governor, Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra urged him to convene all party meetings at all levels to restore peace and tranquility and establish democratic rights in the state.
Mishra, who led a 7-member delegation to the Raj Bhavan, told reporters after their 40-minute long meeting with Tripathi that they had also appealed to him to take immediate action in recovering illegal arms from all over the state.

"All miscreants irrespective of their political identity should be arrested," Mishra said, while demanding the Governor to initiate effective steps to restore law and order in the state and prevent recurrence of incidents as in Khagragarh, Chaumondolpur and Bhangar in future.
Demanding an impartial inquiry into the Chaumondolpur incident in Birbhum by a competent authority, Mishra urged Tripathi for steps to identify and punish those responsible for the incident which claimed three lives.
"Adequate compensation should be given to the deceased and the injured persons in the incident in Birbhum district and steps should be taken to bring back the ousted villagers and repair their damaged houses by the district administration," Mishra urged the Governor.

"We hope, before further worsening of the prevailing situation, your good office will be utilised to make the administration and the government act in a democratic and responsible manner," LF's memorandum to the Governor said.
