"If the rollback of anti-people decisions are not made, the Left Front will meet here on September 17 and 18 when a decision for calling a general strike in the state is likely to be taken," Front chairman Biman Bose said after a Front meeting here.
The four Left parties would observe a nationwide protest day on September 20, he said adding "we are in touch with the Samajwadi Party, Telugu Desam, JD (S), RJD and BJD."
He said Left Front partners had begun holding meetings and rallies since yesterday. "From tomorrow, protests will be launched in all districts of West Bengal."
The Front chairman said Mamata Banerjee government should stop realising additional sales tax from diesel to give relief to the people.
The previous Left Front government had during 2008-09 not levied additional sales tax of Rs 400 crore on sale of diesel after the price was hiked by the Centre, he added.
