Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday constituted a committee for redevelopment of Sheesh Mahal district park in Shalimar Bagh and heritage structures inside it and directed officials to complete the task by December 2020.
Baijal chaired a meeting with officials of various agencies to discuss the redevelopment of the Sheesh Mahal district park.
It was a follow up meeting after he visited the park earlier this month.
"The LG stated that there is a need for proper redevelopment plan and maintenance strategy of the whole park and its monuments.
"He constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of principal commissioner (horticulture), which included representatives of ASI, INTACH, PWD, Police and members of the local community," a statement from the LG office said.
Baijal directed officials to take on greening activities in the entire area by planting fruit bearing native trees, redevelopment of water bodies and renovation of heritage structures in the park.
He also directed officials to contruct a boundary wall around the park, play area of children, parking facilities, solar lightings and creation of additional entry points.
For proper security arrangements, he directed the Delhi Development Authority(DDA) vice chairman to engage retired army personnel at the Sheesh Mahal Bagh.
He also directed all the stakeholders to complete the redevelopment work by December 2020, the statement added.
