Spokesman Omar Humeidan told reporters the decision by parliament today to dismiss Omar al-Hassi doesn't impact the rest of the government. He said the investigation followed requests by the Central Bank and other ministers to probe al-Hassi for making misleading comments, exaggerating government revenues amid complaints of its inability to pay salaries.
The UN is sponsoring talks between the militia-backed Tripoli-based government and the elected, internationally recognised parliament which was forced out of Tripoli by militias and now operates out of the eastern city of Tobruk.
