Licences of 41 medicine shops in the Valley were suspended and show-cause notices issued to six others today for allegedly violating various laws.
"Licences of 41 medical shops have been suspended for violation of various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, while show-cause notices were issued to six such shopkeepers," a spokesman said.
The Drug and Food Control Organization, Kashmir, has launched an inspection drive across Kashmir and inspected 249 medical shops during the past three days, the spokesman said.
The department has also lifted 324 drug samples so far from government and private health establishments, medicine wholesalers and retailers for analysis, he said.
Drugs were also seized from a medical shop in Bemina locality of Srinagar as the shopkeeper did not have a valid drug sale licence, he added.
