Life imprisonment to 11 persons for double murder at Itarsi

The district court here today awarded life imprisonment to 11 persons and imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 each on them in a double-murder case, while acquitting four.
District and Sessions judge Mohamaad Fahim Anwar found the eleven persons guilty of killing Mrityunjay Upadhyay and his friend Sachin Tiwari by attacking them with sharp-edeged weapons at Itarsi near here on February 18, 2010.
Police had filed the chargesheet against fifteen persons, district Public Prosecutor K K Thapak said.
The convict had warned Upadhyay and Tiwari not to testify in a court matter. But the two refused to agree, which led to the murders.
Babloo (25), Pavan Mourya (30), Mukul (30), Ankur Mehta (27), Anshul Sehgal (34), Shankar Mihani (21), Sachin Binaikia (29), Golu Gajraj (34), Ghanshyam (32), Vikram and Hitesh (age not known) were convicted and sentenced.
Four others were acquitted as the prosecution failed to prove that they were present at the spot at the time of the incident.
