Judge of the Court for Exclusive Trial of Bomb Blast Cases P Murugan said the charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, causing exlosion and murder against all the three accused had been proved.
The three accused were given concurrently-running three separate life sentences besides slapped with fine. While one was for conspiracy, another was for murder --both under IPC-- and a third life sentence was for causing explosion under Explosive Substances Act read with the penal code.
The convicts Anbalagan and Sakthivel are brothers and the third convict Suresh is their relative.
The three hatched a conspiracy to kill one Sellakutty over personal enmity. They had planted and concealed gelatin sticks with electric detonator in a coconut tree in Sellakutti's farm and connected the wire with the motor pumpset starter switch.
On August 5, 2005 when Sellakutti turned on the motor, the gelantin sticks exploded killing him on the spot.
