Light to moderate rainfall occurred at one or two places in Bihar while some areas in Madhubani district received heavy rainfall, the Met department said today.
Purnea received 14.8 mm of rainfall in past 24 hours (recorded between 8:30 am on Sunday and 8:30 am on Monday) whereas Patna and Gaya received traces, it said.
Phulparas received 7 cm of rainfall while Katihar and Koilwar registered 5 cm and 4 cm of rainfall respectively, it said adding that Kursela, Nirmali and Araria received 3 cm each.
"The weather will remain more or less the same (sultry weather) as it is being experienced by the people of the state including that of Patnaites. In the next five days, Patna may witness the chance of rain on one day while the remaining four day will be dry," the Patna Meteorological Centre's scientist Anand Shankar said.
Chance of getting rainfall is being spoilt due to non formation of proper moisture feeding coupled with fast changing wind pattern, he added.
Patna recorded highest maximum temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius while Bhagalpur registered 35.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Gaya recording 35.1 degrees while the maximum temperature at Purnea was 32.7 degrees Celsius, it said.
The humidity level in Patna was 92 per cent in the morning while it was 72 per cent in the evening, it said adding that humidity level hovered between 70 to 92 per cent in other major cities.
In its forecast, the Met department said that Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnea are likely to witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder shower tomorrow, the bulletin said.
