Lineman caught red-handed by Lokayukta for accepting bribe
Press Trust of India Indore A lineman of the Madhya Pradesh West Power Distribution Company Ltd (MPWPDCL) was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 for a new electricity connection.
According to a Lokayukta police inspector, the accused Ramkeval Yadav (58), was caught after a complaint by Ghanshyam Malviya, who had applied for an electricity connection for his newly constructed house at New Sheetal Nagar, 45 days ago.
Allegedly, Yadav visited the site and asked for a Rs 1,500 to install a new electricity connection. He told Malviya that if did not shell out the bribe, his application would be put in cold storage, the inspector said.
"After Malviya's complaint, we laid a trap and caught Yadav accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from Malviya at MPWPDCL's Vijay Nagar office," he said, adding that the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Further investigations are on, he said.
