Lineman of MP power discom caught taking bribe

A lineman in Madhya Pradesh West Power Discom Ltd (MPWPDCL) was today nabbed while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a farmer in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district, Lokayukta police said.
Lineman Shambhulal Patidar, posted in Jhajnavada area of Jhabua was arrested taking bribe from the complainant, farmer Prakash Lodha for doing an official favour, Indore Lokayukta SP Arun Mishra said.
The officer said the vigilance department of MPWPDCL had found Lodha of indulging in power pilferage and had seized his water pump. A fine of Rs 17,000 was imposed against Lodha alongside a case, Mishra said, adding, Patidar had demanded the bribe in order to favour him in the matter.
The deal between Lodha and Patidar zeroed at Rs 6,000 and the former had already paid a sum of Rs 2,500 while the remaining part was to be handed over today. But, Lodha filed a complaint with Lokayukta and a trap was laid, he said.
The lineman has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, Mishra added.
