Cloud service provider Linode Wednesday said it has started data centre in India with an investment of around USD 5 million.
The company has plan in place to expand the data centre soon as it expects to have 100 per cent occupancy in its present facility within 2-4 months.
"It is our 10th tier-4 data centre globally and first in India. We already have clients from India hosted in Singapore, Tokyo and Torronto. Indian entities looking for lower latency rate may like to move their hosting to India," Linode India, Director, Data Centre and Cloud Operations, Ashwin Kumar said while announcing the launch.
He said that the data centre can host more than 3,000 client depending on the services they subscribe.
"We have invested USD 5 million to start our India operations. Most of it has gone in to buying hardware for the data centre.
"India is high growth market for cloud services and only next to China. The country's public cloud services market was measured at USD 1.8 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach USD 4.1 billion by 2020. Therefore, it is very right time for us to enter India market," Kumar said.

The company is currently hosting data centre on a leased premised and plans to enhance its capacity as soon as it reach full occupancy.
"We will invest around USD 1-2 million to expand the facility. It will be done as soon as we reach full occupancy," Kumar said.
